"Wings of Ice" is the first standalone orchestral piece by Phill Kovach. Written as music for his sister to skate competitively to, "Wings of Ice" depicts her journey from a shy snowflake into a powerful winter storm as well as capturing the magic of the first snowfall of winter.
If there’s one thing every artist loves it’s being structured and organized… Said no one, ever. As artists we want to have the freedom to work freely and follow where we feel the art is taking us. It can be really easy to feel like structure and organization inhibits the artistic process. For a long time, I was one of those artists. Structure and organization was never at the forefront of my mind since I’m not a naturally organized person but once I started working on Wings of Ice, I quickly realized that wasn’t enough. The journey to releasing Wings of Ice, though rewarding, was challenging for a multitude of reasons, but it mostly boiled down to a lack of structure and planning ahead.
It's that time of year again where we take a look back at the past year and recount all of the events of the year that have made it worth remembering. I think it's important to look back at where you've come in order to better prepare for what's coming ahead. Plus, it helps you appreciate the success a little better to know where you've grown from. 2018 was a launching point for Edge of Oblivion and for my own music career going forward but 2019 was a huge year of growth and learning for me.
